Phuket Festivals : Whatever the time of year you decide to come and join us for your adult holiday, there's sure to be something going on in Phuket aside from the Angels antics!!

Febuary :

Phuket International Blues Festival : International and local bands performing in Asia’s premier Blues Festival, this years line up 2011 included Curtis Salgado (USA), Mason Ruffner (USA), AkashA (Malaysia), Disraeli Gears (USA), The New Machine plays Pink Floyd (UK), The Prodigal Sons (Norway), Phuket All-Star Blues Band with Andy Gonzales (USA), Torgny Sandgren Blues Band (Sweden), John Meyer's Blues Express (Australia).

Phang Nga Bay Regatta : An astounding sailing route and anchorages leaving from Phuket through majestic Phang Nga Bay to Krabi and back to Phuket with five nights of prize giving presentations and parties have made this event one of the most memorable ones on the Asian yachting circuit.

Old Phuket Town Festival : As in past years, streets in the old part of Phuket Town will be pedestrians-only, with street entertainers, food stalls and the chance to take a look inside some of the old town’s fascinating shop-houses.

In the Queen Sirikit Park (on Thalang Rd, next to the Toursim Authority of Thailand’s offices), ten entertainment groups from China, acrobats, Shaolin Kung Fu experts, Tibetan dancers, a mask dance from Sichuan and extracts from Chinese opera will occupy the specially erected stage. There will also be street parades of locals in traditional costume.

March :

Thao Thep Krasatri-Thao Sri Suntorn Festival : A major 2 week festival covering culture, history and sporting events. The festival is held to honour the memory of 2 heroic sisters, Thaop Thep Krasatri and Thai Sri Suntorn. The sisters rallied the people of Phuket to defend Phuket from Burmese troops.

April :

Phuket Gay Festival : The Phuket Gay Festival has been around for a while, with some ups and downs, and in the good years it really does attract a large crowd of partygoers, gay or not. For almost twenty years, the heart of Phuket Gay party zone has been beating inthe Paradise complex in Patong Beach...

Phuket Bike Week : The biggest in Asia with more than 5000 riders from almost 30 countries, music, beach parties, exhbitions and fun for all not just the bikers!!

Songkran Water Festival : Otherwise known as the ‘Water Festival ‘ or ‘Thai New Year’. You might ask yourself what is this festival all about? This is the biggest festival of the year for Thais and tourists, its held every April 13-15th to celebrate the Thai new year. A 3 day public holiday. Street water fights, partying and carnival atmosphere that lasts for the 3 days. Everyone gets soaked and since it is the hottest month of the year in Thailand with temperatures in some parts reaching 40degrees, the custom is quite refreshing!

June :

Phuket International Marathon : The event is a fun and family oriented affair with various races for all levels. The race course has water stations every 1.5 – 2K providing water, sponges, electrolytes and fruits. Mobile toilets are placed at regular intervals and the course is marked at every kilometre. From its humble beginnings with less than 2,000 participants the event has grown to a size of more than 5,000 participants, with an average of 1,500 international participants from 43 countries

July :

Phuket Race Week : Six Senses Phuket Raceweek, now in its eighth year, has been voted ‘Best Asian Regatta of the Year’ in the Asia Boating Awards 2011, which recognise the cream of Asia’s marine industry across 23 categories, from boat builders to marinas to regattas. The awards ceremony was held at the Gold Coast Yacht and Country Club in Hong Kong on May 6, 2011. Phuket Raceweek is only the second of Thailand’s six regattas to win this prestigious award

September :

Quicksilver Thailand Surfing competetion : This year’s Phuket annual surf event is moving to Patong from Kata Beach and will become a much bigger event and a part of the international competition, the ASEAN Surfing Championship held in Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia. The third Quiksilver Thailand Surf Competition 2011 is set for September 21-24 at the northern part of Patong beach. The event will include a surfing festival with free rock concert, fashion show and other fun activities.

Vegetarian Festival : The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is an annual event held during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar. It is believed that the vegetarian festival and its accompanying sacred rituals bestow good fortune upon those who religiously observe this rite. During this time, local residents of Chinese ancestry strictly observe a 10-day vegetarian or vegan diet for the purposes of spiritual cleansing and merit-making. Sacred rituals are performed at various Chinese shrines and temples and aesthetic displays such as walking barefooted over hot coals and ascending ladders with bladed rungs are performed by entranced devotees known as "Ma Song".

November :

Phuket Thailand Open : The Thailand resort city of Phuket will host its sixth FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour event from November 1-6 as the 2011 international beach volleyball calendar a women’s-only event. With the men’s season finale at the end of August at a double gender event in China, the women’s schedule concludes with the event in Thailand.

Phuket Loy Kratong Festival : Loy Krathong Festival, pronounced Loy Kratong, is is held every full moon night in November, the only full moon in November. This is a festival where Thai people prepare small round boats known as 'kratong's' made banana tree trunks and and decorated with banana tree leaves woven together and flowers, candles and incense and food. These small hand made floats are set out upon the water - rivers, canals, ponds, and the sea floating and glowing. Their prayers are uttered so that the kratong will float away, taking away all the bad spirits and sins along with it. Loy Krathong is one of the most picturesque festivals in Thailand, and major hotels in Patong and all around Phuket often host a special evening celebration so that guests can participate.

Phuket International Sport Fishing : The P.I.S.T. 2011 is a 3 day team fishing event with top team honors going to the team that tallies the most points (per kilo) during the Tournament.

The Tournament also awards prizes to the team that catch the largest fish (by weight) in each eligible species.

A special release trophy will be awarded to the team releasing the most Billfish

Laguna Phuket Triathlon : The Laguna Phuket Triathlon is Asia’s premier destination triathlon featuring a unique 1.8K swim, 55K bike and 12K run through spectacular tropical scenery. Over the past sixteen years the popular race has attracted thousands of age group athletes as well as triathlon legends Mark Allen, Greg Welch, Craig Alexander, Paula Newby-Fraser, Michellie Jones and Chrissie Wellington, to name just a few.

December :

Phuket King's Cup Regatta : The Phuket King's Cup Regatta is Asia's biggest and most popular regatta. Inaugurated in 1987 to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Majesty the King of Thailand, the event has been held every year since during the first week of December.

With Royal Patronage, the Regatta is organised by the Phuket King's Cup Regatta Organizing Committee under the auspices of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy and the Province of Phuket

Phuket Carnival : Phuket Carnival (Patong Carnival) - early November, often referred to as Patong Carnival and featuring a range of live music (including jazz), art exhibitions, sporting events and sumptuous Thai cuisine

January :

Phuket International Marine Expo : Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX) 5-8 January 201. Now on its ninth year, PIMEX is an established and successful event in the marine and leisure calendar. PIMEX 2012 has big plans for 2012 as the on-water display increases and the exhibition hall includes a greater diversity of displays for as far afield as China, Australia, Italy and France. Like its location, PIMEX is a relaxed event where participants celebrate the boating, leisure and luxury lifestyle in an ideal tropical destination. The show is more than boats on display but also an opportunity to see the latest luxury cars, properties and engage in some Phuket hospitality.

Phuket Chinese New Year : Old Phuket comes alive with the Chinese New Year celebrations each year.
